The OSRAM Continental’s corporate design is awarded with the Red Dot Award for outstanding design work in the Brands & Communication Design category.
OSRAM Continental's corporate design concept and mission statement has won through among a total of 8,697 international competition entries.
"We are very pleased to receive the Red Dot Award. It shows that, based on the strong brands of our parent companies, we have succeeded in creating a new, independent brand that makes our claim to innovation and passion visible and with which our employees have been very strongly identified right from the start," says Dr. Dirk Linzmeier, CEO of OSRAM Continental, about the award.
The concept was developed and implemented by the internationally renowned design agency KMS. The basis is the mission statement "Shaping the Future of Mobility Lighting with Seamless Connectivity", which has been condensed into three design principles that are also the characteristics of light: Contrast, Movement and Focus.
The figurative mark of the OSRAM Continental logo is based on the light-dark contrast and plays with the initials C and O. Black and white are repeated over the entire appearance and visual language and are only complemented by the accent color orange. In reminiscence of intelligent lighting solutions that adapt to the respective application and situation, the corporate design is also conceived as an agile interface. Movement is translated into a visual identity that lives from flexible principles instead of rigid rules. Focused beams of light and the centered alignment of design elements refers to the core principle of "focus".
On November 1, 2019, the award ceremony will take place in Berlin. At the ceremony, the award-winning communication design works and brands will be presented for one night. The award-winning entries will also be published in the International Yearbook Brands & Communication Design 2019/2020.
