Digitalization, electrification, user experience and new mobility concepts – these megatrends will shape the future of automotive lighting. OSRAM Continental is therefore focusing on projection in 2020.
With its combined expertise in the fields of automotive lighting, optoelectronics and software, OSRAM Continental is using innovative projection solutions to extend the possibilities of classic headlamp technology. Projectors will turn vehicles and their surroundings into a canvas for OEMs and mobility providers. The result: advanced safety, more emotion and better functionality.
At the Intelligent Automotive Lighting (IAL) Conference, Dr. Michael Rosenauer, Head of Advanced Development, said: “With our solutions, we at OSRAM Continental are focusing primarily on two areas: intelligent lighting that automatically adapts to the situation on the road, and light for communication between the driver, vehicle and environment – a crucial factor in the development of autonomous driving. Exterior projections will ensure better visibility of turn signals and brake lights, among other things, and will display relevant driving information on the road. Interior projections will be used to improve the comfort, convenience and well-being of the occupants.”
OSRAM Continental’s product portfolio includes static, semi-dynamic and dynamic projection solutions – for different application scenarios and different individual requirements. The products benefit from the software know-how of the OSRAM Continental development team and enable intelligent control.
